Convictus shakes his head slowly. "No, I haven't eaten yet. I was busy developing a new lesson plan for my students and got lost in my work. And then I wandered into you. So today has essentially gone to the Nether." He huffs and slumps his shoulders. "But I wouldn't mind the company I suppose..."

Rainalune pursed her lips, her toe tapping quietly on the cobblestone momentarily. "Well, if ya got stuff to plan, we can just grab some dried meat from the tavern or somethin'. I don't wanna be keepin' ya from your work!" She grinned as she reached down for her coin purse, shoving it open to fiddle for a coin or two. "Not really used to company, are ya?"

Convictus manages a smirk as she speaks. His eyes light up momentarily. "Trust me, I can finish this paperwork easily...and no...I'm not used to -any- company." He crosses his arms and looks up at the sky. "Well, except my students and adjuncts...but I would hardly call that "company". What about you? You seem like someone who has many annoying friends." He chuckles to himself. Because he's so hilarious.

Rainalune turns back toward the tavern and jerks her head toward it to gesture him to follow. "Your choice! I can eat on the go or sitting down." She falls silent for a few moments as she listens to him, a brow raising as a slight hint of irritation gleamed in her eyes. "Hmm...it's a wonder that ya don't have company more regularly. Ya seem like such a chipper fella." She wrinkled her nose in a sarcastic little grin of her own. "I got my brother. He's plenty annoying, so I guess that counts?"

Convictus stops her abruptly as she begins walking towards the tavern. "Erhm...would you mind if we headed toward the Mage District? I have a lecture to attend in a few hours and I don't want to be late." As they begin walking he continues his ramblings. "I've been told by my students that I'm quite a pleasant professor! That counts for something." He twirls his index and middle finger to form a runic shape in the air, which manifests a seemingly ice cold mug of water. He takes a dapper looking sip of it as they continue on. "Family doesn't count."

Rainalune paused mid-step toward the tavern, blinking a few times before shrugging and turning back to follow him toward the Mage District. "Fine by me." She clears her throat as he defends his ability to be socialable, unable to hold back a snicker. "I never questioned your abilities as a professor. And it doesn't count, really." She watches with a hint of curiosity as a mug of water manifests in his hand, nibbling her lip. "Well then I guess I'm as companyless as you! I mean I got my Guild mates. But they're usually busy."

Convictus takes another sip of water and nods as she speaks, his pace is slow and deliberate. The mage's voice seems less snappy, with a hint of happiness sneaking through. "Oh! So you think I can't make friends, huh?!" He snorts derisively. He eyes her up and down discreetly as they walk together. The elf sighs and stops for a moment. "Give me your hand for a moment."

Rainalune saunters along next to him, taking long childish strides with her hands laced behind her back. She noted the hint of positive emotion in his voice, but said nothing of it, simply nodding decisively at his question. "That's exactly what I think! Cause you're oh so friendly, mister man!" Her brow perks again when he stops and asks for her hand, her movements hesitant. "...why? Last time ya froze it!"

Convictus offers a genuine smile for once towards the elven woman. "Consider this an apology." He outstretches his hand and looks directly at her. "Trust me."

Rainalune frowns a bit more deeply when the man actually smiles at her, her posture relaxing. "...all right. But if ya freeze my hand again, I'm gonna hurt more than your foot." A playful grin was cast his way as she finally raised her hand, letting it fall gently into his.

Convictus lowered his gaze to the elven woman's hand, it fitting perfectly into his palm. The smile on his face lingers for a few more moments before his expression turns stoic. He grasps her hand gently and begins uttering an incantation, it's origin sounding like that of the language of the Elementals; Kalimag. "T ma suz'ahn reth T ma fiilrok tadrom dra T krin os nuk talsa reth krin shone sto toro tu ko zoln." As he speaks both his hand and hers become engulfed in a small aura of flame. The fire dances across their skin but doesn't touch it, simply giving off a soothing heat. He finishes the incantation and releases her hand after what seemed like a long moment. He looks at her and again and smiles. "That should help your hand stave off any possible injury from my callous act earlier." He nods and continues walking again, acting like it was no big deal.

Rainalune perked slightly, even the tips of her ears standing on end as she listened to him speak words she clearly didn't understand. Her initial reaction to the flame was a tiny jump. But when no pain came from it's touch or his, she relaxed and seemed perfectly content to watch with an innocent kind of amazement. When finally her hand is released, she snaps back to reality and blinks up at him, turning to quickly skitter after him. "Oh! Well thank ya." A tiny grin is held back as she reaches into her pouch, fishing for something. "That was really pretty...ya should do demonstrations and stuff."

Convictus keeps his gaze forward as he answers her. "Don't mention it, Raina. It's the least I could do." He looks up and eyes the tip of the Mage Tower in the distance, listening to her intently. "Magic isn't meant to be "pretty", it's meant to be practical." He groans and retorts quickly. "But thank you." His voice is softer at this point. "I teach practical applications for magic in everyday life, many people forget that the Arts are not just for war and strife." He looks over his shoulder at her and grins. "I can show you a few things, if you're interested that is."

Rainalune skips after him once she'd found what she was apparently looking for. Her hands quickly shot behind her back though as he spoke and looked back at her. "Well, I'm sorry then that it's so pretty, grumpy. Either way, you're welcome!" She waited patiently for his attention to return forward, seeming perhaps a bit too inconspicuous to actually be inconspicious. "Of course I'm interested! At the end of the day, we both do the same thing...just in different ways. Why wouldn't I want to learn another way?"

He shrugs. "I'm a bit surprised is all, some of those who are ignorant wish to stay ignorant. Or those who are too stubborn are not willing to look outside of their comfort zone. It is an unfortunate truth that I combat every day. There are some people who just cannot be taught. At least not by -my- standards." All while this exchange was happening he noticed her acting a bit strangely. Instead of simply asking about it, he decided to blink behind her abruptly. His body teleporting right behind her so he can lean over her shoulder. "Are you hiding something from me, Raina?" He grins mischievously.

Rainalune shrugged, skipping along with a grin on her face. "I like to learn. It's a good way to pass the time, and I figure out more nifty things I can do to help people...or make pretty colors." She began to hide the grin, already having seen his reaction to her calling the flame pretty. Suddenly, he was no longer in front of her, and she was about to start looking around frantically. Then she felt body heat radiating rather close, the familiar sound of his voice calling over her shoulder. Eyes widening, her hands fumbled behind her back to try and hide the small leaf she'd been fashioning into a hairpin for him. "N-no!"

He lets out a hearty laugh. "You're a terrible liar, you know that? I see something in your hand?" He tries to get a good look at it, having some trouble dealing with her quick movements. "Show me! Don't make me use my Slow incantation...I don't like to use it but I will...!" His voice is filled with a rare whimsy, odd for someone of his stature.

Rainalune turns quickly to peer up at him, wiggling her nose at him. "You callin' me a liar?" She keeps the little earthy trinket trapped and away from sight within her hands, grinning at him as she attempts to get behind him again. "Ya wouldn't do that to me! That would be mean! And let's just face it, ya don't got a mean bone in your...wait..."

The mage continues his raucous laughter, causing his alumni in the Mage District to do a double take. "You clearly underestimate me, Raina!" He can't quite keep up with her speed, so he goes for a more direct approach. As she's moving he concentrates and summons forth three doppelganger familiars, surrounding her. The mage's voice projects through the images, as well as his own, echoing deeply throughout the District. "I've got more tricks than your average street magician, Raina." All four of them chuckle and grin. "Now give it here!"

Rainalune giggles along with his laughter, clearly quite pleased that he seemed to be having fun for such a stuffy old mage. "I underestimate nothing! I just have faith is all!" She lets out a yelp of surprise when suddenly there are four of...well...him around her! "Light of Elune! Which...I don't..." She reaches up slowly with one hand, keeping the other still behind her back. If he didn't move away, and if she had indeed reached for the right version of him, she'd poke his nose to be sure he was solid. "...I'll only give it to the right one! And only if ya hold still!"
